He Carries Me

Isaiah 46-49, Psalm 135: As I begin to study this morning for some upcoming retreats God reminded me that He is with me. He is carrying me. Listen to how Isaiah 46 says it.
3 “Listen to me, O house of Jacob,
all the remnant of the house of Israel,
who have been borne by me from before your birth,
carried from the womb;
4 even to your old age I am he,
and to gray hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
I will carry and will save.”
As I read these scriptures it is a gentle reminder that even when I feel alone or overwhelmed, He is not just with me. He is carrying me.
I am at the end of a week and a half of having my grandchildren with Les and me. The first half I had one grandchild that turned 2 while I was with her. Then the second half I had 3 grands 5,3 and almost 2 years old. All of them at one time or another wanted to be held. It usually came when they were tired, hurt, afraid, or just needing reassurance. Our arms were open waiting and willing to hold, comfort, encourage and reassure. Isn’t that like God with us? He is always there. It is just a matter of coming to Him. It is a matter of acknowledging that at times of fear, discouragement or just not feeling wanted or loved, He is here. He has His arms open wide and He longs to carry us as we rest in Him. My grands always teach me much about my relationship with my creator. I am so grateful that even though my hair is turning gray and my years are many now, I still can rest and abide in Him.
