Esther 1, Zechariah 7-8, Acts 27:1-12, Revelation 20:7-15, Psalm 145: Yesterday our family watched the movie White Christmas. There is a scene in the movie where Bing Crosby and Rose Mary Clooney sing a song that says,
“When you’re worried and cannot sleep just count your blessings instead of sheep and you’ll fall asleep counting your blessings.”
During this time of year it is so easy to look at all that is around us and become anxious, fearful, chaotic and for many sleepless. God’s desire is quite the opposite though. He desires for us to look up at all He is and all that He has given us. Start with the basics, life, breath, hearing, seeing, smelling, feeling and tasting. He has given us the beauty of creation all around us. He has given us a warm bed, a soft pillow and clothes to wear. I could go on and on! We have so much to be grateful for. We overflow with blessings all around us! As our eyes are kept on Him and all He has provided it becomes easier to relax and realize that if we trust Him He has it all in hand and we can rest. The Psalm today put it this way.
Psalm 145:21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.
Even before we recount all we have, we can praise Him for who He is. Then my friends not only will you rest well, but you will also realize just how blessed a Christmas you really have! Merry Christmas with Love!
