Genesis 25; 1 Chronicles 21-22; John 7:1-14; Galatians 3:1-14; Psalm 17: Do you have the gift of being able to see things before they are there? Last evening we were talking with a gentleman that is a metal fabricator. He said of himself, “I can just see things before they are there.” He has the ability to look at metal and see a door, gate, or wall. Others have the ability to look at a piece of fabric and see a dress, shirt, or outfit. David had the gift of vision as well. He looked at the Ark of the Covenant and the tent it was in. Then he dreamed and visioned a grand temple to put it in that would honor God. So he began to make plans. Though he was not the builder, he was definitely the one who saw what would one day become the temple. He began gathering stones, timbers, gold, silver and the other items that would adorn the beautiful place of worship. Solomon became the eventual architect that made it happen, but David dreamed the dream.
It reminds me of the story of Walt Disney. He dreamed the dream of a place where people could come and see stories come to life. He had a vision of rides, shows, and food that would please the eye and the taste buds. Walt died before the park ever opened. At the opening of the great part one man said, “I wish Walt was here to see this.” Walt Disney’s wife said, “He did!” You see Walt had the gift of seeing a vision and making it come to pass.
Has God given you a vision? Does it seem too big to really come true? Don’t worry about the details, just start where you are and begin to work toward that dream. You may or may not be the one to finish it, but with God’s help you may very well see it come to pass.
